5 Tattoos For Parents Who've Lost Their Baby
While getting a tattoo isn’t for everyone, the permanency of getting one after losing a baby can provide a life-long remembrance of your child. There are a lot of factors to consider when getting a tattoo like size, design, and location. Make sure you like your artist and get recommendations from friends that have great ink experiences!
Let’s start with the heart behind a particular decision to get a tattoo. Check out this picture:
After we lost our son Whitson, this painting showed up and blew us away. A friend of ours told another person our story and she felt led to paint this picture as she prayed. Needless to say, when we got it we were thrilled!
A few months later, I was looking for a tattoo idea to remember my son. For me, having a continual reminder of him was important and brought me some comfort. Now, years later, it’s become a great conversation starter to help people understand what we’ve been through and how Jesus carried us through! Here’s my Whitson Bear as a tattoo:
Each tattoo is unique and special to the person wearing it. Here are some other tattoo examples that honor our children lost in miscarriage or stillbirth from those close to Foreknown:
Shay’s Arrow
If you’re curious what the verse is, it’s:
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.- Psalm 127:4
Kristy’s Arrows
After experiencing a miscarriage, Kristy added the middle arrow as a reminder of their sweet Baby Logan.
Alyson’s Trees
After Alyson lost her sweet girl Cora, she got these trees on her upper-rib cage. Nobody can see it except her and her husband, so it’s a deeply personal way to remember.
Kelsi’s Faith Cross
Keeping it simple, Kelsi wanted a continual reminder to keep the Faith, regardless of the situations she may be in.
Jono’s Design
Jono got this colorful design tattoo to remember all three of his girls, two on earth and one in heaven.
In the end, getting a tattoo is completely up to you and your personal beliefs. It’s not for everybody. Pray about it and share with us the ink you get! Who knows, your tattoo could be the start of a healing journey for somebody or even them coming to know Christ!
